Adventure Tour from Reykjavík: Zip Line, ATV and Lava Tunnel

A full day of action in South Iceland. Fly down Iceland’s longest zip line, ride an ATV on a black sand beach by the North Atlantic, and walk deep inside a lava tunnel formed about 5,600 years ago.

Private vehicle for 1–3 or 4–7 passengers. From €453 per group. About 8 hours, with pick-up in Reykjavík.

The day

Geothermal country. On the way out we pass Iceland’s largest geothermal power station, which produces 700 MW and supplies Reykjavík with hot water and electricity. We also cross the plate boundary of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the reason Iceland has so much volcanic activity.

Mega Zip Line, Hveragerði. The adrenaline part of the day. Iceland’s longest zip line runs about 1 km and drops 150 m.

Lunch in Hveragerði. A break at Gróðurhúsið (“the Greenhouse”) food hall, on the site of the old greenhouse and florist where many Icelanders used to buy their garden plants.

ATV ride, Þorlákshöfn. Ride an ATV on the black sand beach right by the waterline of the North Atlantic Ocean.

Raufarhólshellir lava tunnel. The big finish. Molten lava flowed through this tunnel during an eruption about 5,600 years ago. It is the fourth-longest cave in Iceland and stretches 1,360 m into the lava field.

At the end of the day we drop you back at your pick-up point, or anywhere you like in the city centre.
