Private Northern Lights Tour from Reykjavík
Hunt for the aurora with your own guide and a private vehicle. We follow the forecast and drive away from the city lights into the dark countryside around Reykjavík, wherever the sky looks clearest that night.
Private vehicle for 1–3 or 4–7 passengers. From €676 per group. 3 hours, departing at 9 pm.
How the tour works
No two nights are the same. Cloud cover, the aurora forecast and light pollution decide where we go, so the viewing spots change from tour to tour. Your guide picks the best option for that evening and keeps you updated along the way.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, so we can’t promise a sighting on any given night. What we can promise is a real effort: dark skies away from the city, a guide who knows where to look, and no rush to get back to a coach.
When to go
This tour runs from 15 September to 15 March. The aurora season in Iceland lasts from late August until April, and September, October, November, February and March are often the best months.
Not available on: 23 December (St. Thorlak’s Day), 24 December, 25 December, 31 December and 1 January.
Why book it private?
Aurora hunting is about patience. In a private vehicle you can stay longer when the sky starts to glow, move on quickly when it doesn’t, and take photos without a crowd in front of you.
